Classical expression meets contemporary design
Private home in Copenhagen, Denmark
With a focus on surface textures, including ceramic, wood, and textile, this Copenhagen home achieves a balance between classic silhouettes and modern functionality. Using the FRAME Collection in Dark Oak and handles in Brass, the kitchen highlights quality craftsmanship both in the materials and details, creating an elevated yet inviting kitchen space.
The focus for this family home was on designing a kitchen that had respect for the original style of the older building, while matching the minimalist interior of the rest of the home. Functionality was essential, including large work spaces for cooking food, and storage. The old fireplace from the original kitchen was preserved by tightening the silhouette, making it fit with the rest of the kitchen design. This adds to the classic-meets-contemporary atmosphere. In addition, lighting that can be adjusted for intensity was placed throughout the kitchen to create separate spaces and support a sense of mood. The kitchen is made to look like a built-in piece of furniture, so elements such as lighting and flooring were considered as part of the whole when designing the space.
