Natural stone countertop
About the material
A recurring feature of the more flamboyant end of design history, a solid natural stone countertop in marble or granite makes an eye-catching addition to your kitchen space. The stone countertop consists of natural occurring minerals which leads to unique patterns that give the material its characteristic and stylish appearance.
Good to know
The relatively cold surface of the stone makes it ideal for cooking. Both marble and granite are hard and relatively heat resistant materials, granite being slightly more resistant to scratching and chipping. Due to the fact that marble is a limestone, the material is unable to withstand acidity, which means that moisture and residue from lemons or vinegar should be wiped off the surface quickly to prevent discoloration in the countertop.
Care and maintenance
Cleaning of the surface should be carried out with pH neutral detergent. For optimal results, use a natural stone/marble cleaner.
