A home in harmony with SURFACE in the Hudson Valley
Collection: SURFACE / Variant: SURFACE Natural Oak
WHO: Rachel and Nick Cope, founders of Calico Wallpaper
LOCATION: Ghent, New York
COLLECTION: SURFACE
For their home in New York’s Hudson Valley, Rachel and Nick Cope collaborated with General Assembly to create a carefully considered residence set within generous acreage. The architecture is calm and grounded, allowing a modern oak palette to serve as a backdrop for pieces collected over the years. Throughout the home, Calico Wallpaper’s signature patterns introduce subtle warmth and creative expression. SURFACE in natural oak is used across both the main house and the poolhouse, appearing in the bathroom, laundry room, and poolhouse kitchen. This consistent material language brings visual continuity to the property, connecting spaces through refined textures and clean lines. Thoughtful detailing ensures that each room balances functionality with a sense of ease. Life moves fluidly between the home, Calico Wallpaper’s nearby studio, and an expansive garden designed by Brook Klausing. More than a residence, the house reflects the Copes’ creative community; an environment shaped for gathering, making, and embracing the rhythms of country life.
