XXV is a reimagining of a 1950s Mediterranean home set among mature trees in the hills of Upper Outpost Estates in California. Led by Ome Dezin and designer Marco Zamora, the renovation balances the character of the original architecture with a contemporary, material‑driven approach. What began as a shared creative dialogue evolved into a calm and considered transformation, one that honours the home’s history while introducing a new sense of clarity and purpose. The design draws from Spanish heritage and the soft, sunlit atmosphere of southern Europe. Vintage pieces, expressive textures, and a layered material palette bring warmth and depth throughout the interior.

The primary kitchen features PLATE with David Thulstrup. Its brushed stainless‑steel fronts introduce a precise, modern contrast to the warmth of wood, marble, and plaster, materials that echo the home’s original character. Within the ADU, REFLECT with Jean Nouvel shapes a compact kitchenette defined by light and texture. The ridged stainless steel captures and reflects daylight, while cork flooring softens the space. A salvaged window adds movement and character. Together, these elements create a tactile composition that balances function with a quiet sense of presence. Across XXV, every space is guided by a dialogue between old and new. The result is a thoughtful retreat within the city rooted in craftsmanship, shaped by materiality, and designed to feel both timeless and distinctly contemporary.
