Calming natural wood to balance a colorful apartment
Private Home in Copenhagen, Denmark
The owner of this Copenhagen apartment had the BASIS collection in his previous home, so choosing it for his new place was easy. The classic look means that it fits into many spaces and never looks out-of-date.
Because the apartment has color and texture throughout the space, the oak wood BASIS kitchen offer a calming natural material that balances the aesthetic. The steel countertops give a sense of material contrast, as well as being highly functional.
The apartment owner had a carpenter use cut-offs from the BASIS fronts to cover a small alcove, having the kitchen cabinets on one side go from floor to ceiling. This small adaptation gives an enormous visual effect, and ensures that the entire front is used. This speaks to the owner’s love of craftsmanship and wish to be as sustainable as possible.
The kitchen in this apartment is the most used room in the house, not only for cooking, but also for socializing, working from home, listening to music, and more. Making the space welcoming and timeless was a top priority, and this was achieved through use of the oak BASIS kitchen.
