Cecilie Thorsmark’s kitchen shaped by connections and conversations

Cecilie Thorsmark’s kitchen shaped by connections and conversations

WHO: Cecilie, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, her husband Jacob, their three kids, and their dog.
LOCATION: Frederiksberg, Copenhagen
COLLECTION: REFLECT with Jean Nouvel

In a quiet corner of Frederiksberg, Cecilie lives with her husband Jacob, their three children, and their dog in a renovated 19th-century brick villa. As CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, Cecilie’s world is steeped in creativity and design—a sensibility that carries into her home, where the villa’s original character is complemented by a timeless, modern aesthetic. At the heart of the home is REFLECT with Jean Nouvel, a kitchen that serves as an anchor for everyday life, from morning coffees to late-night dinners with friends. Choosing REFLECT was an intuitive decision: “We saw a small sample in the showroom and fell in love. We could imagine how refined and architectural it would look in our home”.

“You spend so much of the day preparing meals and cleaning up, so we dreamt of a kitchen where we could move around freely without clutter.”

When the family first moved into the apartment they transformed its traditional, darker kitchen into a contemporary, open space. Functionality and flow were essential, but for Cecilie, the kitchen is as much about connection as it is about cooking. “Whether it’s catching up with my husband after a busy day or chatting with friends while we cook, those were the moments we wanted to make room for.”

Craftsmanship and materiality were central to the decision-making process. The depth and tactility of REFLECT give the kitchen character without overwhelming the space and thoughtful touches, like dual under-counter fridges and a Quooker tap make everyday life beautifully better. “Once you have a Quooker, there’s no going back,” Cecilie laughs. More than a place to cook, this kitchen is the backdrop to a full, sometimes chaotic household—always brimming with conversation, connection, and the occasional delicious chocolate cake baked by their oldest daughter.

“We value simplicity, design, and spaces that can evolve with us.”
