Natalia and Armando live with their child in a charming 65 sqm apartment. For them, creating a kitchen with plenty of storage and an area for daily cooking was important. It was also essential that the space is open enough that the family can interact whilst cooking. These needs led to large cabinets, the kitchen built against the wall, and an island.
To blend into the space and emphasize use of natural materials, Natalia and Armando chose the SURFACE Smoked Oak for the cabinets and bar. This focuses on the tactility and natural wear of the wood. FOLD Aluminum was chosen for the island for a strong contrast with a monolithic, almost sculptural feel.
“The smoked oak is just so elegant and beautiful. It warms up our house with its texture. We of course love the little island: it’s a statement. It gives our kitchen that contemporary cool touch, allowing everyone to congregate around it.” – Natalia
