A kitchen that blends in and stands out
Private residence in Copenhagen, Denmark
Designer & Partner of Danish multidisciplinary design studio Norm Architects, Frederik Werner, knows that living with his own designs is an important part of understanding them. His own home, a brick villa built in 1917, now includes a PROFILE kitchen, a design created by Norm Architects in 2020.
Norm is known for its sense of balance, bringing together richness and restraint, through a contrast of materials and textures off-set with strong, clean lines. PROFILE follows this brief; Frederik chose the natural oak fronts paired with the handles in dark metal. The result is a kitchen that looks like a built-in piece of furniture, stretching from wall to wall. It is fully integrated into the room, yet stands out thanks to its organic tactility. In putting PROFILE into his space, Frederik took a simple and rational design approach with a devotion to craftsmanship. The high quality materials and attention to detail ensures that the space is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
The kitchen, which was previously separated from the living room but is now connected, includes a glass door to the garden that functions as a second home entrance. For that reason, walking into the kitchen needed to feel calming and welcoming. PROFILE achieves this through sleek lines, natural materials, and meticulous detailing that feels sophisticated yet unpretentious.
